The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of PE to take a role as Head of Year within the strong pastoral team at Arden. The pastoral team plays a central role in the development and maintenance of the ethos and culture of the school, maintaining the highest standards and the very best in wider student development and support.

PE is taught through Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. GCSE PE, BTEC Sport, Health & Social Care, Travel & Tourism and A Level PE are delivered by the PE department. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the extensive co-curricular activities run by the PE Department.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach PE across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including GCSE PE, BTEC Sport, Health & Social Care, Travel & Tourism and A Level PE where appropriate.
  • Lead a year group as Head of Year within the pastoral team, maintaining high standards and supporting wider student development.
  • Contribute to the extensive co-curricular programme offered by the PE department.
  • Deliver inspirational, personalised teaching that motivates pupils and supports their learning and development.

Requirements

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a teaching specialism in PE.
  • Ideally, pastoral experience together with the ability to motivate pupils through inspirational teaching.
  • A commitment to personal development and progression through a strong focus on teaching and learning pedagogy.
  • The ability to teach one or more of the post-16 courses offered by the department is desirable.
