The school has recently completed an expansion that will increase the student body from 400 to approximately 650. It occupies a purpose-built campus in Fino Mornasco, six kilometres south of Lake Como, featuring state-of-the-art science laboratories, a well-resourced library, visual arts studios, three music spaces and a theatre. The campus forms part of the International School of Europe group within the Inspired Education network.
The role
The International School of Como seeks a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of Performing Arts to join the creative arts department on a maternity-cover contract, commencing as soon as possible. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that nurture students’ confidence, imagination and performance skills in alignment with the IB Diploma Programme frameworks and will contribute to a vibrant performing arts culture across the school community.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging Drama lessons in line with IB philosophy.
- Inspire students to explore creativity, collaboration and expression through performance and theatre.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary projects and productions that enrich the school’s creative life.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Organise and direct school performances, assemblies and community arts events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote the arts within the broader curriculum.
- Participate in professional learning to develop IB and performing arts pedagogy.
Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification (for example PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
- A bachelor’s degree in Drama, Performing Arts or a related field.
- Experience teaching Drama within the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.
- A strong commitment to fostering creativity, confidence and teamwork in students.
- Excellent communication, organisation and collaboration skills.
- Enthusiasm for contributing to the wider life of the school through performances and cultural events.
- Valid EU passport and work permit.
