About the school

GEMS FirstPoint School opened in 2014 and is positioned in the heart of The Villa community in Dubai. It is a Premium British Curriculum School, providing an excellent standard of education to around 2000 students from Nursery to Year 13. The school has grown rapidly and continues to be popular with families from across Dubai, with over 90 nationalities represented.

FPS is housed in state-of-the-art buildings with a separate sport and performing arts centre, swimming pools, theatre, sports hall, dance, drama and music rooms. The role

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Science to join the school for an August 2026 start. This is an opportunity for experienced teachers to advance their careers with a globally leading education company at a world-class international school in Dubai.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver the required curriculum with accurate and up-to-date subject knowledge.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that motivate students and cater for different learning styles.
  • Maintain written evidence of planning and preparation, including curriculum and year plans, attendance and assessment records.
  • Teach students according to their individual needs, using appropriate strategies for a range of abilities including late-entering students, ESL learners, and gifted and talented students.
  • Set, mark and assess work, recording and reporting on academic development and progress.
  • Use media and technology effectively in the classroom.
  • Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide educational guidance.
  • Participate in appraisal, performance management and continuing professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on teaching materials, resources and pastoral arrangements.
  • Lead or support co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes.
  • Monitor and manage student behaviour, promoting self-discipline and cultural awareness.
  • Assist with the planning and organisation of school events and functions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed of student progress while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education with a major in Science or a Post Graduate Certificate of Education.
  • A UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check is a pre-requisite for appointment.
  • Commitment to the GEMS Core Values and the safeguarding and welfare of students and staff.
