About the school

The British College of Andorra currently has 300 students and is set to grow significantly over the coming years. The school is situated just outside Andorra la Vella in a stunning mountainside location, three hours by road from Barcelona and Toulouse with excellent transport connections.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of Science with a specialism in Biology to join the school. The post involves teaching science to students aged 11 to 18 years old, following the English National Curriculum, IGCSE Science course and IB Sciences courses. The ability to teach mathematics or outdoor education as a second subject will be viewed favourably.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver inspirational science teaching that enables every child to enjoy success and pursue the subject through to Year 13.
• Lead practical experiments and investigations in the laboratory and through fieldwork.
• Employ an enquiry-based pedagogical approach that connects theory and practice through the scientific method.
• Apply a developed understanding of the difference between performance and learning, together with a broad approach to assessment and feedback.
• Integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status is essential.
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree is essential.
• Interest in teaching across the secondary age range of 11 to 18 is essential.
• A Master’s degree in the teaching subject or in Education is desirable.
• Experience with KS3, IGCSE and IB Sciences courses is desirable; experience with other secondary school science courses is acceptable as an alternative.
• Experience teaching English as an Additional Language students is desirable.
