About the school
Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of two to eighteen. The school follows the British National Curriculum and is divided into Pre-Prep (Pre Nursery to Year 3), Prep (Years 4 to 8) and Senior School (Years 9 to 13).
Academic levels are high. In June 2025, 57% of students achieved A-A* at A level and 67% gained A*-A grades at IGCSE. In the graduating class of 2025, 83% of pupils progressing to the UK attended Top 10 universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL and LSE. Other graduates have joined leading institutions in the United States, Spain and elsewhere in Europe.
The role
The school seeks an outstanding Chemistry teacher to join the Senior School. The successful candidate will teach Cambridge IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences (Double Award), separate IGCSE Chemistry and A Level Chemistry. All candidates are expected to play an active role in the co-curricular life of the school.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in IGCSE and A Level Chemistry.
- Support pupils of all abilities to achieve excellent academic outcomes.
- Contribute to departmental planning, resourcing and assessment.
- Participate fully in the co-curricular programme.
Requirements
- A good honours degree from a British university.
- PGCE or equivalent qualified teacher status with a Chemistry subject specialism.
- Native-level English speaker.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to differentiate learning and meet individual pupil needs.
- High expectations of pupil effort and behaviour with effective classroom management.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Motivation and initiative to contribute to departmental success.
Experience in an independent or international school and recent teaching experience in the UK are desirable but not essential.
