About the school
Carr Hill High School is an 11-16 comprehensive school situated in the market town of Kirkham in the Fylde, Lancashire. The school has an average of 180 students in each year group, with students drawn from over 25 primary schools. It is the only state secondary school in the immediate area and serves a wide range of abilities and social backgrounds, including a significant number of army families from the nearby barracks at Weeton.
The school aims high and maintains high standards of behaviour and academic effort. Its mission is to provide a high-quality education that prepares students for the challenges of tomorrow through the values of Commitment, Aspiration, Resilience and Respect. Carr Hill High School is part of the Education Partnership Trust, a multi-academy trust established in 2012 that sponsors secondary mainstream, alternative provision and special schools with a focus on sustained improvement and collaborative working.
The role
Carr Hill High School seeks to appoint a Teacher of Science. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a well-planned, knowledge-rich curriculum and consistently high standards of teaching. The school offers a supportive and inclusive culture where staff are developed, valued and encouraged to refine their practice, with a strong focus on professional growth and teamwork.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
- Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher and form tutor.
- Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
- Share and support the schoolβs responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- Excellent professional knowledge and understanding of national and examination curricular requirements of the subject.
- Excellent knowledge of science with the ability to plan lessons with clear objectives to ensure progression of all students.
- Established as an effective teacher across the age and ability range.
- A thorough understanding of and commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
- Some experience of successfully teaching to KS3-KS4 students, with a clear understanding of the teaching provision required in secondary schools.
