Our Visual Arts team of six practitioners operates within an integrated Arts Department, collaborating with Theatre and Music to build a curriculum that respects both the wheel and the workstation. From ceramics and traditional media to digital fabrication, we are looking for a creative educator to join us. Whether your background is in illustration, studio arts, or even textiles, we are looking for someone who will bring a fresh perspective to our unit development and help us continue to evolve.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an educator who aligns with the ISH Community Profile. To ensure your values and skills align with our school’s specific requirements, please review our Person Specification before applying.

Essential qualifications and experience
  • You must be a fully qualified teacher according to Dutch Education Authorities (DUO) standards.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts or a related field.

  • At least 3 years secondary teaching experience in Visual Arts.

  • Applicants who have the right to work in The Netherlands, independent of employment status, as we are not in a position to sponsor a visa on this occasion.

Preferred
  • Experience teaching Visual Arts in IB MYP and/or DP/CP curriculum.

  • Experience as a student mentor.

  • Familiarity with international school settings and culturally diverse student populations.

  • A student-centred, inquiry-based attitude towards professional development.

  • Attendance at relevant IB workshops.

We offer

  • Contract: As with all teacher appointments in The Netherlands, this is a 12-month temporary appointment with a view to a permanent contract, if all the conditions are met.

  • Salary: Based on the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) for Secondary Education Scale LB: €3622 - €5520 pm (gross) for 1.0FTE - steps in the scale depend on relevant background and experience.

  • Hours: The position is based on 32-40 hours per week i.e. 0.8 - 1.0FTE.

  • Start date: The appointed person will start on 1 August 2026.

  • Work-life balance: Generous school holiday periods in alignment with the Rijksoverheid (Dutch government) schedule for South Holland.

  • Benefits: 8% holiday allowance, 8.33% year-end bonus, ABP pension scheme, and travel expense contributions.
