The role

Yasmina British Academy is seeking an outstanding Teacher of Physical Education to join the team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will start in January 2027. Due to the structure of the department, a female candidate is required for this role. The post involves assisting in the day-to-day running of the PE department, including administration tasks, displays and supporting lessons. The role also requires monitoring and maintaining PE equipment and storage, as well as supporting staff in the creation of lesson resources. A passion for sport and willingness to contribute to the extensive school squad provision is desirable, with preferred sports including football, basketball or athletics.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the PE department, including administration, displays and lesson support.
  • Monitor and maintain PE equipment and storage.
  • Support the creation of lesson resources and contribute to the school squad programme.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that create a climate conducive to outstanding learning and teaching.
  • Set clear objectives, challenging tasks and high expectations while using assessment data to inform planning and differentiation.
  • Mark and monitor student work, maintain records and prepare reports for parents.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school visioning activities.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations, safeguarding requirements and academy policies.
  • Engage in performance management, professional development and staff briefings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of two years' teaching experience in the specialist subject, with experience up to GCSE and A Level desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of volleyball, basketball and athletics.
  • Experience in delivering Edexcel GCSE and A Level PE.
  • Experience in coaching and leading high-level sports teams.
  • Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • High level of professionalism, respect for all members of the school community and a positive, solution-focused attitude.
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or equivalent police check.
