The role

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Physics to join immediately for the Academic Year 2026/2027. The successful candidate will teach the English National Curriculum and demonstrate a proven track record of raising standards and securing outstanding progress for all students. Candidates must be aligned with the school’s core values and possess a genuine appreciation of the values of the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental policies and practices that reflect the school’s vision and commitment to high standards of achievement and effective teaching and learning.
• Establish, monitor and evaluate short-, medium- and long-term plans for departmental development.
• Use data effectively to identify underachieving students and implement targeted plans of action.
• Analyse and interpret school data to inform policies and contribute to the school self-evaluation process.
• Ensure appropriate schemes of work are in place, regularly reviewed and include suitable provision for SEN/POD, G&T and EAL students.
• Guarantee curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all students, including those of high ability and those with special educational needs.
• Set high expectations for staff regarding achievement, teaching quality and behaviour.
• Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning and take action to drive further improvement.
• Ensure the department contributes to the school’s CAS Programme and after-school booster and revision sessions for I/GCSE and IB DP courses.
• Performance-manage the team in line with school policy and ensure efficient deployment of staff and resources.
• Maintain effective control of departmental resource and capital expenditure budgets.
• Create an effective and stimulating learning environment in accordance with school policy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a related subject together with a PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification.
• Minimum of six years’ teaching experience.
• Experience of the UK curriculum.
• Commitment to an extensive enrichment programme.
• Passionate and caring approach to education.
