Teaching Assistant

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cheltenham Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre as a Teaching Assistant with a Communication and Interaction specialism. The successful candidate will work within the Special Educational Needs Department to support the effective day-to-day operation of the SEND provision. Teaching Assistants with experience of supporting students in Maths, English and Science are especially desirable. Applications from HLTAs are also welcome, with salary adjusted accordingly.

Teaching Assistants play a vital role in SEND support as part of the team led by the SENDCO and SEND Lead Practitioner. They are fully immersed in subject departments, working closely with subject leaders and teachers both in the classroom and during departmental meetings to ensure students with SEND make excellent progress.

Support is delivered through one-to-one interventions, small group work and main classroom assistance. Early applications are recommended, with first interviews scheduled for Friday 17 July (AM) and further interviews on Thursday 20 August 2026. The school reserves the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date.

Key responsibilities

Requirements

• Specialism in Communication and Interaction
• Experience of supporting students in Maths, English and Science (desirable)
• HLTA status welcomed, with salary adjusted accordingly
