About the school
Miller House School is a brand-new specialist SEMH setting located in Stoneygate, Leicester. The school opened in September 2025 with a capacity of 80 pupils and provides co-educational provision for young people aged 11–16 with complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties, autism and ADHD. The school is part of Acorn Education and Outcomes First Group, which was certified as a Great Place to Work for the sixth consecutive year in 2025.
The role
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join Miller House School on a permanent, term-time-only basis starting September 2026. The position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £22,160.62 per annum. This role is open to UK applicants only; no sponsorship is available.
As a Teaching Assistant you will support pupils with additional and complex needs to access learning and reach their full potential. Working closely with teachers and specialists, you will deliver tailored one-to-one and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom, helping pupils make academic progress while developing their social, emotional and behavioural skills.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs
- Support the delivery of creative and engaging lessons alongside teaching staff
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence and emotional resilience
- Build positive, trusting relationships that support progress and wellbeing
- Assist with a range of learning experiences, including outdoor activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and colleagues to deliver consistent support
Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Compassionate, calm and adaptable, even when situations change
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils and staff
- Passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people with SEND
- Eager to learn and take on new challenges in a dynamic school environment
