The role
Thistley Hough Academy seeks a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the Success for SEND team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support students both in the classroom and through pastoral care, helping every learner reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week, term-time plus one week (39 weeks total). The salary is Grade 5, points 6β11: Β£25,989βΒ£28,142 per annum (Β£22,351βΒ£24,203 actual salary). The start date is as soon as possible.
Key responsibilities
- Support students in the classroom and through pastoral care, both individually and in small groups.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and monitoring student progress.
- Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and families.
- Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported.
- Use initiative to respond to the varying needs of the day while maintaining clear communication with colleagues.
Requirements
- Good reading, writing and mathematics skills, with GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in these subjects.
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with children and young people.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear, friendly and professional communication skills when interacting with students, parents and staff.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
