The role

As Vice Principal Student Wellbeing and Culture, you will join the Senior Leadership Team and work closely with the Principal and fellow Vice Principals. The position bridges high-level strategy with operational excellence to lead the student support vision across the Secondary School, fostering a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every student is known, valued and empowered to flourish.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a visible role model for the values and behaviours of the ISH Community Profile.
  • Lead, implement and evaluate the school’s student support vision to foster belonging and community.
  • Line manage and empower pastoral leaders, including Deputy Heads of School and the Student Wellbeing Coordinator.
  • Chair holistic student support leadership meetings to ensure consistent, high-quality care across year groups.
  • Provide strategic oversight of safeguarding frameworks and promote a proactive culture of student welfare.
  • Champion student voice in decision-making and school improvement.
  • Drive restorative practices, positive behaviour interventions and inclusive education strategies.
  • Act as an approachable presence for students, staff and families to build strong home-school connections.

Requirements

  • A people-centred, empathetic leader who builds strong relationships and serves as a role model for the school ethos.
  • Passion for student wellbeing, belonging, inclusion and social-emotional growth, with a commitment to diversity and equity.
  • Resilient, creative and solutions-focused strategist able to bridge planning with operational delivery.
  • Proven change-agent skilled in establishing structures, delegating effectively and modernising student support systems.
  • Professional-level written and verbal fluency in English and Dutch.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification meeting Dutch Education Authority standards for secondary education.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of secondary teaching experience and three to five years in middle or senior leadership overseeing student support, wellbeing, safeguarding or behaviour management.
  • Deep operational expertise in child protection, inclusive education, attendance strategies and restorative practices.
