Visual arts teacher
The role
International School of Nice ISN seeks a part time Visual Arts teacher to provide excellent instruction and learning opportunities for Middle and High School Visual Arts classes. The role requires alignment with the school’s vision and mission and support for Globeducate events when appropriate for the department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong drawing and painting skills together with the ability to work in three dimensions. All teachers at ISN are expected to develop and deliver the curriculum to excellent standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and prepare learning activities that guide students towards the achievement of curriculum objectives.
- Use a range of instructional techniques and media consistent with available resources and student needs.
- Expand students’ use of individual and collaborative strategies to generate concepts and ideas.
- Incorporate new technologies and tools into the creative process.
- Teach students to identify elements of art and design and apply them to create concepts.
- Further students’ knowledge of visual arts and media through art theory and history.
- Develop aesthetic understanding and appreciation that enables students to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Enable students to create a functional portfolio of their artworks.
- Plan, coordinate and prepare art displays and exhibitions for the school and community.
- Evaluate each student’s performance on a continual basis and prepare evaluative student reports.
- Ensure the required standards of classroom management and student behaviour are met.
- Ensure that students who meet requirements have inclusive assessment arrangements.
- Carry out all activities with due regard to health, safety and safeguarding in accordance with the Child Protection Policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or equivalent.
- Qualified teaching certificate or licensure appropriate for the grade level and subject area.
- Solid working knowledge of the concepts, activities and techniques related to teaching Visual Arts at the required level.
- Strong foundation in classroom management.
- Trained in Safeguarding and Duty of Care.
- Positive, creative and collaborative leader committed to high standards of teaching and learning.
- Flexible, resilient and supportive team player who is passionate about learning.
- Effective communicator who is diplomatic, proactive and a problem-solver.
- Interculturally aware with well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Well organised, efficient and able to meet deadlines.
